2 couples will be traveling thru Brussels with a 9 hr stop over between planes. how would you suggest traveling from the airport %26amp; getting a good feeling for the city with time for a bite to eat?

BRU is only 20 minutes from central Brussels by train, the station is right below the airport and they leave every 15-20 minutes. Take the train (€3) to Gare centrale, which is only about 5 minutes walk from the Grand%26#39; Place. If it is raining, you can spend your time in the nearby Galeries St. Lambert: go down the hill from the station, turning right behind the Méridien Hotel, and when you get to the bottom of the hill you will see the entrance to the Galeries on your right, and the street leading to the GP on your left.
There are plenty of places to eat around that area, those in the Galeries are fine but DON%26#39;T eat in the rue des Bouchers, petite rue des Bouchers etc. in the restaurant area just off there. It is a tourist trap.

Hi - we just returned yesterday from a 12 hour layover in Brussels. The train station is just below the airport and it is 3Euro. It%26#39;s about 15-20 minute ride.
We walked around the Center, had coffee, took many pics and returned to the airport...very easy and people are friendly.
The only downfall is the Border Control - VERY slow!
Have a great time

thank you - so it appears we need to give ourselves more time to return to the gate
