The Horta museum (you do know it is only open in the afternoons, from 14.00, and closed on Mondays?) is in rue Américaine, which is off Ch. de Charleroi in St. Gilles.

Rue de l%26#39;Hopital is just below the Sablon (in the sense that it is downhill from it), if you walk up(-hill) to the other side of the big church Notre Dame du Sablon, you can take tram 92, direction Fort Jaco (so travelling towards the Palais de Justice) about 5 stops to the Faider stop (follows Stéphanie), walk 3 blocks in the direction the tram was going, and rue Américaine is on the left.

There are also taxis in the Sablon, I don%26#39;t think the trip should cost more than €8 or maybe 10 if traffic is bad. Rue de l%26#39;Hopital is only about 10 minutes walk from Gare centrale so taxi cost would be about the same.

If you were returning to Gare centrale from Faider by tram, you can get off at a stop called Palais, after Place Royale, from where a flight of steps leads down past the Palais des Beaux-Arts (late Horta), and then go through the Galerie Ravenstein which brings you to the back of Gare centrale. Otherwise, the next stop is Parc metro station from where it is just one stop on the metro to Gare centrale.

qaminari-Thankyou so much for your very helpful and detailed response. You mention the Musee De Beaux Arts.As time is very short we can really only visit one and I love Flemish paintings. Also if I understood correctly it very close to the train station which is also a help.Would welcome your thoughts/recommendation on which makes better sense .

Many thanks

No I didn%26#39;t mention the MUSEE des Beaux Arts, which is an art gallery, but the PALAIS des Beaux Arts (known these days as Bozar), which is a theatre, concert hall and exhibition space!

However, the Musée des Beaux Arts is near Place Royale, you would also pass if you were coming from Faider on the tram; the stop is called Royal and is the one after the Sablon. From here you can walk down the hill to the station (via the Ravenstein gallery opposite BOZAR) or take a bus from outside the Musical Instrument Museum, although it is only a couple of stops.

I%26#39;m not sure what recommendations you are requesting, if you mean between the Horta museum and the Beaux Arts complex (Art Ancien, Art Moderne and now the Magritte museum), if you love Flemish paintings there is no contest, you would have to visit the Musée d%26#39;Art Ancien as the Horta Museum is all about art nouveau. You can walk there from rue de l%26#39;Hôpital. Go under the viaduct that carries the Bd. de l%26#39;Empereur, and if you can take the passageway next to the Chinese bookshop (La Grande Muraille) straight ahead of you, the street ahead of you is rue de Ruysbroek, walk up there and you will see the museum above you on the left. If the passageway is closed (I think there is a gate), follow the street leading to the Sablon and take the first turning on the left, which is rue de Paille, then turn right into rue de Ruysbroek.

Thank you once again----I guess the Beaux Arts it will be.
