Inexpensive airport hotel in Brussels?

My husband, myself and two grown sons need to fly out of Brussels on 10/1 with a flight time of 0815 (8:15am) flying to Amsterdam with a transfer to US.

I%26#39;d like to be at the airport by 6am to assure enough time.

It%26#39;s just a place to sleep, we will come into Brussels that morning via train from Antwerp and I guess take our bags to an airport hotel and then go back out to see a few things (unless there are lockers somewhere in the train station for luggage?)

If I could do one room with two doubles and a cot, I%26#39;d do it rather than the expense of two rooms. But probably will have to get two rooms. Want to be a quick shuttle to airport but trying to keep costs down. Any suggestions?

There is only one hotel right at Brussels Airport which is the Airport Sheraton. It%26#39;s expensive but may be worth it, as they have rooms with 2 doubles and you can request an extra cot: but to me (and them) %26quot;cot%26quot; means for a baby, if it doesn%26#39;t to you, make sure to specify to the hotel that you want an extra BED! From their website:

%26quot;All children under 2 years stay free of charge for cots.

All older children or adults are charged EUR 50.00 per night and person for extra beds.

Maximum capacity of extra beds/babycots in a room is 1.%26quot;

The other hotels out (in desolate areas of Diegem or Zaventem) near the airport are listed here www.brusselsairport.be/en/services/hotels/. If you will be relying on a hotel shuttle bus, don%26#39;t forget to check on the hotel%26#39;s website how late it runs (if you would be using it to get back to the airport to take the train into town) and how early it starts, and also whether there is a charge, as not all of them are free.

Bear in mind that it is only about 20 minutes from central Brussels by train to the airport, and the trains start at 04:52 (then 05:04, 05:16, 05:40..), therefore you could also stay e.g. at the Ibis or Novotel %26quot;Off Grand%26#39; Place%26quot; near Gare centrale: with, for most of the day - except on Sundays - a direct pedestrian connection to both of these (and the Best Western Carrefour de l%26#39;Europe) from the -1 level of the station, which is the one the escalator delivers you to from the platform: follow signs to the Grand%26#39; Place, to the left of the steps up to the ticket office level and this brings you to an escalator going down (avoiding all the roadworks at ground level) and a glass door that brings you out behind the Novotel.

There are of course left-luggage facilities including lockers at all railway stations in Brussels, but I can%26#39;t see the point of leaving your bags there rather than taking them to the hotel.

For a flight to Amsterdam, 2 hrs in advance is fine for getting to the airport. You will go through passport controls at Schiphol as that is where you will be leaving Schengen.

On reflection I%26#39;m not sure the Sheraton does have 2-(double)-bedded rooms, because they now seem to be charging per room on the basis of a maximum of 2 plus max 1 child - so it looks as though they would in fact require 2 rooms.

On that basis, it would probably be cheaper to stay at the Ibis or Novotel (make sure it%26#39;s the one near Gare centrale, or in the case of the Ibis, also Gare du Midi - although this is not a nice area to stay in - as they both have several properties in Brussels).

Dear

None of the hotel at Brussels airport are very expensive at the moment due to the economic crises.

The best value is the İbıs hotel www.ibishotel.com or really budget is Etaphotel.

I stayed at the Mercure hotel Brussels Airport a few weeks agoit was excellent and not very expensive.

They have a shuttl e service from the airport to the hotel.

There are ockers for your lugage at the airport or at the main train stations in brussels.

have fun
