I agree Blackpool is cheaper than Bruges. But then, Bruges is one of the most popular spots in Europe, and can raise its charges to curb demand.

I hope you didn%26#39;t pay Ruinair for the flight - I think they make a lot of their money from bookings that people subsequently cancel when they find out the other costs involved in their %26quot;cheap%26quot; trip!

Maybe by Feb the pound will have recovered.

No i always check to see if theres a hotel deal before i go and book my flight...shame as i love brugges, this would have been my 4th time. But i can get an all inclusive week in cuba in feb for £500 so i think i will go there...it would prob cost £300 plus with meals just for 3 nights in brugges, its just not on, until the euro comes down its just not worth it now !!

Warren...brugges lover (when its affordable :-(( )

Is ther any availability at the Bauhaus? It has a number of single rooms with private showers. Forget the hostel part with it%26#39;s dorms, check out the hotel next door.

If you had been willing to be a tad more flexible you could have done a short trip for around £200 :- Charleroi Airport - Charleroi sud %26quot;bus%26quot; 1.50euro, then return train to Namur (beautiful little town) about £10, 2 day stay in Tanneurs hotel great hotel with excellent restaurant, (ok i didnt use the restaurant but i was on a strict budget) about £35 per night, day return to Dinant about £8 %26quot;another little gem%26quot;, plus 1 night in balladins superior airport hotel £50 with free shuttle to from Airport their are not many places in uk where you can go for 3 days including all travel expenses for that price.

skokomish...I am not really sure if you are just complaining about the cost in Bruge or the value of the Euro. As far as I can see on a currency converter, Your 200 british pounds give you approximately 226€. I would have been thrilled with that rate this summer. Our 200 US dollars gave us only about 140€. The british pound would have netted us less than that so we avoid the United Kingdom.

Well why not fly Liverpool to Amsterdam on KLM/EZY and get a bargain 4 star hotel on Priceliine for around $70 usd per night
