One full day...need to sample some chocolate!

We will be stopping over in Brussels for one day - 2 adults, two teenage boys = chocoholics!!

We%26#39;ll be coming off of a long European tour that will involve a lot of palaces, museums and galleries and we%26#39;re hoping to lighten things up a bit in Brussels. We love to walk around and just explore. And did I mention that we love chocolate??

Any suggestions on how to spend a fun day in Brussels that will include chocolate? We%26#39;ll be arriving by train to Gare Midi.

There is a square called Le Sablon which houses some of the best chocolate shops in the world. Most of them pretty pricey but nevertheless great chocs.

I recommend the wittamer cafe in the sablon.

you can stand your spoon up in the hot chocolate.

Sablon has Pierre Marcolini and Wittamer, both among the best chocolatiers in Brussels, plus representatives of several of the %26quot;chains%26quot;, i.e. Godiva, Neuhaus and (in the Petit Sablon) Côte d%26#39;Or.

You will also find a number of chocolate shops, including the original Neuhaus, in the Galeries St. Hubert near the Grand%26#39; Place.

If you have the time, I would recommend that you take the metro to St. Catherine and right next to one of the exits, opposite the Welcome Hotel, you will find Frédéric Blondeel, chocolate shop and café where you can have a selection of chocolates with your coffee. You can also walk there in about 10 minutes from Bourse - take street to right of McDonalds, walk down rue Ste. Catherine, at the end turn right, you will see a big church (Ste. Catherine), and to the left of that the former port/fish-market area of Brussels, turn left there and in a minute, you will find FB.

There is a chocolate museum in the GP although I haven%26#39;t heard very good reports of it, and if you want to see chocolate being made this is possible, on Saturdays at least, at Planète Chocolat in rue du Lombard, near the junction with rue du Midi (also not far from the GP/Bourse).
