My husband and I will be driving (pre-arranged, and pre-paid) from Paris to Brussels. We are staying a few days in Paris prior to departing and 1 night in Brussels before we head up north. We%26#39;re interested in taking in any sights along the way. Also we would like to know any pitfalls to watch for. I%26#39;ve seen many posts on parking fees for example. We appreciate any advice you can give. It%26#39;s our first such trip.

In my opinion there aren%26#39;t really any sights along the way, apart from Chantilly (which has a chateau) just after you leave Paris/St. Denis. If you are particularly interested in history, you could consider leaving the E19 motorway near Compiègne to see the Armistice memorial/museum at Rethondes (www.webmatters.net/france/ww1_rethondes_2.htm) and you enter Belgium near Mons (http://www.trabel.com/mons/mons.htm).
You can use www.viamichelin.com to plan your journey if you need a detailed map of the route, including any stopovers you decide to include.

Chantilly or Senlis are worth a visit, although they are only half an hour north of Paris.
There isn%26#39;t really that much else really, the only other places I can think of are Mons or Cambrai. Not exactly thrilling but fine for lunch.
