What is the cheapest way to go to Brussels from Paris?

I want to travel to Brussels from Paris. The flight tickets are too expensive. Does anyone know of a train rail that is cheap for travelling to Brussels from Paris?

I%26#39;m surprised you found a flight ticket, as far as I know there is only 1 Air France flight, they replaced the rest by TGV train from CGG Airport to Bruxelles-Midi. Unfortunately the only other train available is just as expensive (www.thalys.com) so the only cheaper way to do it is by coach (www.eurolines.com), which takes 4 hours as opposed to 1h22 by Thalys.

do u have to be a member of the thalys to get the tickets? I tried booking but it says I have to have a membership card.

I presume you are talking about the item that appears in the online booking form, after %26quot;Number of passengers%26quot;, in the form of a menu from which you would have to select one of the following:

- Without card or Membership (meaning, membership of Thalys corporate programme)

- Thalys corporate programme

- Lys card

If you inadvertently selected %26quot;Thalys corporate programme%26quot; of course it will ask you for a membership number (like frequent flyer system). If not, this box should show %26quot;Without card or Membership%26quot;, which is the normal situation for most people, and does not in any way imply that you have to have either of these.

I would suggest you look at previous questions on here (and possibly in the Thalys forum) about booking Thalys from outside Europe, because you may have noticed that the Thalys site only gives you the choice of being based in Belgium, France, Germany or the Netherlands, and of collecting tickets in one of these (in your case, France as that is where you are starting your journey). From Canada, you may find it easier to book through an agency like Rail Europe instead. See raileurope.ca/train-faq/…how-to-book.html

See also previous questions in this forum about booking/paying for Thalys from Canada, as you may find there is also an issue with your credit card: European cards now have extra security features which Thalys site insists upon.

I took Thalys and I bought tickets in advance b/c Rail Europe has a few tickets a day at a discount rate. They are usually more expensive, but if you grab a discounted train, it can pay off.
