Trains from Brussels Airport to Amsterdam

We%26#39;re flying in to Brussels airport and then changing trains at either Brussels Midi or Brussels Central for an InterCity train to Amsterdam. Is it easier to make the transfer at either station? Any idea of how much time we need at either station to make the connection?

It depends on what you mean by easier. Central has less than half the number of platforms so there isn%26#39;t as far to go between platforms. However this means that multiple trains use each platform so you must pay close attention to the signs showing which train is arriving. Also, trains to Amsterdam start at Midi so it may be easier to find a good seat/luggage spaces if you get on there.

At Midi you would take steps from the platform where the airport train arrives DOWN to the main concourse, then escalator up to the platform for Amsterdam train; whereas at Central, which is underground, you would come UP by escalator from the platform to the shopping level and then go down by steps.

In both cases you %26quot;need%26quot; less than 10 minutes, though you might feel happier with longer if you don%26#39;t know which platform the Amsterdam train is leaving from: you can ask the ticket office at the airport or the inspector on the train to tell you which one it will be, if you are uncertain of finding it. In any case on IC if you miss one train you just take the next one (of the same type, of course).

Thanks for the information. I think we%26#39;ll change at Midi as you suggested to, hopefully, get better seats.
