Budget hotel near Gare du Midi

Hi!

Plese advice me nice budget hotel (with a breakfast) near by Central Station of Brussels.

The problem is, we arrive at the 24.00 (midnight). So the question is - how safe is walking ni midnight this district of Brussels? Maybe we can take a taxi - is it expensive?

Thanks in advance!

Please note that Gare du Midi is the South Station, not the Central Station. If you mean Gare du Midi, I would not advise staying in that area at all, but if you must, there is an Ibis (cheapish chain) just across the road from the station which would probably be your best bet: ibishotel.com/gb/…index.shtml.

If you mean Gare centrale, this is the best area to stay in and there are dozens of hotels nearby, including the Novotel %26quot;Off Grand%26#39; Place%26quot;, Ibis ditto, Madeleine, etc. You can check these out as regards price and rating by TA members in the list of %26quot;Brussels hotels%26quot; on the left of this page.

If you are arriving at Gare centrale around midnight, there is no problem, the hotels mentioned are within walking distance. If you are arriving at Gare du Midi, your best bet would be to take a local train (included in price of Thalys or Eurostar ticket) to Gare du Midi, e.g. there is one at 00:19 (arrives at 00:17) coming in from Charleroi which is headed for Gare du Nord and will stop first at Gare Centrale.

Taxis are quite expensive in Brussels, from Midi to Central would probably cost around €12.
