Athens to London

We are planning a Greece trip and need to go to London from Athens after our trip. Will it makes sense for us to take train and spend one day each in Athens-Sofia-Bucharest-Budapest-Vienna-Munich-Paris-London.

We will be traveling in mid-October. Should we book train ticket in advance through Rail Europe or book on the day of travel?

Err, this is the forum for Belgium - which is not on your itinerary! I would suggest you put this in the forum for train travel.

However, I can inform you that you MUST book in advance for the Paris-London leg, since you can only do this by Eurostar which is reservation only. The same applies to any night trains you may intend taking, e.g. Bucharest-Budapest, in order to spend the day in the city concerned.

It would be cheaper to book directly with the train operators (Greek Railways, Austrian Railways, German Railways, etc.) than with an agency like Rail Europe, and it is possible that all RE will do anyway is sell you a pass, it would still be up to you to organise reservations, where needed. You can easily work out the itinerary for yourself using reiseauskunft.bahn.de/bin/query.exe/en. This will also tell you where reservations are required.

Thank you. I am first time user. I will try to post it at appropriate forum.
