Hi - I am organising a stag do to Brussels. We chose Brussels because we are looking for somewhere a little bit quieter and a little bit less obvious than the usual Amsterdam or Prague.
Please can someone recommend a good central hotel (at a good price!) and also where to go on a night - there will likely be 15 of us. Is there any problems with large groups?
Thanks,
Paul.

15 guys going wild in Brussels. A good idea for an afternoon trip might be to visit the Cantillon Brewery. You can find them on www.cantillon.be.
They brew the famous Lambic beer, as well as cherry beer and more. You can visit them individual (€5 per person, 1 glass of beer included) but through the site you can contact them for private tours. Maybe you can ask them to visit the actual brewery followed by a session to taste some of there beers.

try the ibis/accor hotels in town.
more on the beer tour later

I just came back from a stag weekend (of 10) in Brussels last weekend where we stayed in the Ibis directly oposite the Gare-du midi zuid. It saved carrying luggage long distances from the Eurostar to the hotel, or catching the tram or taxi. ibishotel.com/ibis/…fiche_hotel.shtml
The Grand Place is a mile walk and along the Stalingradlaan there are some food places for your end of evening/morning stroll back.
The hotel is very clean where each room has a double bed and single, with bathroom. The only downfall is it sits in the middle of a building site and the surrounding area isn%26#39;t too attractive.
I called the hotel direct, but found it cheaper to book online, although you can only book three rooms per transaction.

Anybody got any ideas that will keep us out of the pub for at least two hours?
I am also organising a stag in August and trying to find somewhere close that would do activity like paint ball, shooting or quad bikes.
Any ideas?

I honestly would urge you not to stay near the gare du midi. Its a really scummy part of town and you can get the same price in staggering distance of the area you will be interested in - Place St Gery. You%26#39;ve got about twenty good bars and a lot of decent restaurants in that area which will keep your people happy. You%26#39;ll find them.
In terms of hotels look at hotel-opera.be/content_uk/Mainframeset.htm which does a triple room for 115 a night and is about five minutes away
For good value food in a fairly raucous atmosphere you can try La fin de siecle on rue des chartreux. Its informal but good. For a late night kebab, go to the Grand Place and look for the place on the top right hand side as you walk from the Bourse. Its a lebanese place and is amazing. Around the corner there are loads of kebab places but they are truly rank. Also, avoid any bars in that area as they%26#39;re just for tourists
You should have no problems with a large group, just don%26#39;t act like tossers (no football shirts etc)

right i am back from my hols.
Beer tour in BXL i would start with getting Tim Webbs beer guide on sale at all good booksellers.
You could go to the atomium and zip line off the top that would take some time, best to go before you beer up.
My current favourites are Delerium good place to finish at.
Poechenellekelder near Mannekin Pis.
Fleur en papier d%26#39;oree grungy old place.
you could try o reillys for the authentic belgium atmos.
at least one bar on the Grand place my favourite is Gulden Boot.
Moeder Lambic, le corbeau, the skeiven arkitekt.
