Late arrival on Eurostar

Hi,

Myself and my cousin (both females!) are arriving in Brussels on the Eurostar at 10.30pm at night and have to make our way to the Hilton City Hotel. Would it be best to just get a taxi or is travelling on the Metro still ok at that time? We dont mind walking if thats just as easy and safe.

I have read all the various postings regarding getting from the Midi to the hotel, so am confident with that, its just the time aspect and your opinions please!

hi it is too far to walk with luggage a cab would take ten to fifteen minutes. you could take a tram pretty easily.

My recommendation would be cab

Personally I find the tram system too confusing in the Midi Station and would also recommend a taxi.

Make sure the driver takes you to the right Hilton since there are 2 in the city. The Hilton City is located on place Rogier.

Travelling on the metro or tram in Brussels is perfectly fine at 22.30 and if anyone finds the tram system confusing (the most direct route from Midi to Rogier being by underground tram), it so happens that for Rogier you can just as easily use the metro, which would be preferable if you have luggage anyway. Just follow signs for the metro, buy tickets from machine or ticket desk, and then look for metro line 2/6 direction Simonis-ELISABETH: not Simonis-Léopold which is the opposite direction. At the stop Rogier, look for the exit into Place Rogier itself and when you come up the escalator, you should see your hotel on the right.

Walking to Rogier from Midi would take about an hour and I would not anyway recommend the first part, around Gare du Midi (at any time of day). However, you do also have the option of taking a local TRAIN from Midi to Gare du Nord, which is only about 10 minutes walk from the Hilton City in Place Rogier. The cost is included in your Eurostar ticket, and there are dozens of trains going that way, the easiest to identify from the departure board are probably the ones to the airport. If you take this option, upon arrival at Gare du Nord following signs to the metro will bring you to the main concourse, then turn left, I think the exit is signposted %26quot;centre ville%26quot;. Walk straight ahead down rue du Progrès to Rogier and when you reach the square your hotel is on the left.

Brussels taxis are cheap as long as you stay in the capital area (not Zaventem airport).

That would cost a grand max of 10 euros, including all the silly extras that taxis charges (departure from station, extra luggage)
