What area is good to stay for 3 nights?

Hi,

My parents (in their 60%26#39;s) and I are coming to London for vacation for 3 nights in October. They love to do tourist stuff: see museums, shopping malls, other tourist attractions, nice restaurants, etc.

Where part of the city would you guys recommend us to stay? Price is important to us. We don%26#39;t mind a bit of travel to get to the tourist attractions. We just need a accessible, safe and low price place to sleep at night time.

Thanks

Sorry I meant Brussels. Not London.

Best area to stay in is probably the area around Gare centrale (convenient for access from/to the airport) which also happens to be near the Grand%26#39; Place, and where most of the hotels are.

Less convenient for transport but also nice to stay in are the Louise and Sablon areas.

For specific hotels, just look in the %26quot;Brussels hotels%26quot; list on the left, which you can order according to a number of criteria, including price: then check out location.

are these two areas loud or quiet? Because we prefer somewhere quiet.

Thanks

Brussels is not a particularly noisy city: the only %26quot;loud%26quot; parts I can think of would be the bar and restaurant areas around the Bourse (e.g. Marriott Hotel), Ilôt Sacré and rue du Marché aux Fromages, where people may be eating outside till late at night (e.g. Mozart Hotel - but you should avoid that one anyway). I can%26#39;t see any noise problem with e.g. Ibis %26quot;Off Grand%26#39; Place%26quot; or Novotel ditto. There is no noise from Gare centrale (apart from the current roadworks, during the day!) as the trains run deep underground.

However, if you fancy B%26amp;B-type accommodation in a quiet residential area, this one is run by a former colleague of mine: richardcondon.centerall.com/classifieds.php

if you want to be in a quiet area and are staying at the weekend you could look around the european quarter.

The place shuts down at the weekend but it is pretty easy to get to livelier places by bus or metro.

My parents stayed at the silken and really liked it

I would stay around Grand Place

The Ibis is moderate, perfectly located.

You will spend most of the time in the area.

The Sablon area is lovely, and close by.

We really like the Jolly there.

There is a problem in Brussels with Taxi%26#39;s.

Some are very nice, but many are plain nasty.

They will not willingly take you to short distances, or will ask for a ridiculous fare.

The walk back to Sablon is rather dark.

We are in Brussels now, and have forgone the Jolly because of the Taxi Drivers.
