Brussel stations

I have a ticket from London-Brussel Midi,and from Brussel Agglo- Amsterdam Central..

Is it the same station Brussel Midi and Brussel Agglo? If not what is the fastest way to get from one to another station?

Hi,

%26quot;Brussels agglo%26quot; isn%26#39;t a name of a station, it means that the ticket is valid for any station in Brussels

Agglo is short for agglomération (whole of Brussels city/Region).

You can catch your train to Amsterdam at Bruxelles-Nord, Bruxelles-Central or Bruxelles-Midi, as you prefer: central is usually the most convenient.

Actually your London-Brussels ticket should also cover you to any station in Brussels and not just Gare du Midi, even if the Eurostar terminates there. Although you might just want to check this with an inspector on board the train or else/at Gare du Midi. If so, you can use it to cover taking a local train one stop to Gare centrale which is just 5 minutes from the Grand%26#39; Place.

On the other hand if you have to change to metro, tram or bus to complete your journey to wherever you are staying, you have to pay again anyway for STIB ticket, so you might as well do this from Gare du Midi.

Thanks, but if I am arriving at 10.03 in Brussels, and departure for Amsterdam is 10.15, what do you suggest to do? I get off where?

|||

I already told you, you have no choice as to where to get off! The Eurostar from London terminates at Gare du Midi. Where you can also catch your train to Amsterdam, but since you now mention you have a ticket for a specific time, checking the timetable shows that the 10.15 departure to Amsterdam is in any case from Bruxelles-Midi.

I think you are worrying about nothing here. As qaminari says the Eurostar does not stop at any other staion in Brussels (or Belgium for that matter)and you have to get off at the terminating staion of Midi.

If you are catching the 10:15 to Amsterdam then that is the NS international train. Actually this train requires no reservation and leaves every hour at 15 mins past so if you miss the 10:15 or indeed want to stop of on Brussels for a look around for a couple of hours for a coffee or something then that is entirely possible, then catch a later train.

If you do this then catch any train to the Centraal Station and head for the Grand Place which is a short walk away. The NS train stops here also so you can just hopback on there to get to Amsterdam. Just a thought. Depends on how quickly you want to get to Amsterdam.

thanks a lot people...you have all save me the trouble of worring about nothing, now i%26#39;ve realized that..thanks again...

Hi...I%26#39;m travelling from Amsterdam to Brussels...the ticket also says Brussles Agglo...where do you suggest I stop as a day trip tourist (as we are based in Amsterdam)...someone told me some train stations in Brussels is less busier than others? Which station is nearest to all the tourist things to see? Like to Town hall, palace, etc??

|||

If you are travelling on the Thalys then the only station you can get off is Midi. If by the normal international train then get off at Central and walk down to the Grand Place which is as good a place to start. From Midi you can just take any northbound train and get off at Centraal.

If the ticket says Brussel agglo it will normally be an InterCity (IC) ticket; I believe Thalys tickets mention Brussels-Zuid or Bruxelles-Midi (= Brussels South Station) specifically - although this only means that Thalys only serves that station, the ticket itself can be used on a local train to any other mainline station in Brussels, i.e. Central or Nord.

IC trains coming from Amsterdam stop at (possibly Nord: but they seem to have cut it out for most trains on this route) Central and Midi. There must be dozens if not hundreds of previous answers to questions in this forum saying %26quot;get off at Bruxelles-Central for the Grand%26#39; Place%26quot;...
