Does anyone know if there is a bus from Ypres to Tyne Cot and Passchendale, I%26#39;m not really keen on guided tours and would rather do it myself, cheers

Hi wellsick,
Visited Ypres a couple of years ago with my old dad. I e.mailed the local tourist info office before we travelled and asked them the same question you have asked. They replied with info about local taxi service and said the trip could be arranged by them. When we got to Ypres I visited the office in the town square and was informed about the local bus service. We got the time table from the staff member and the bus departed from the same town square. I dont remember the bus number as it was a few years ago.
Now Tyne Cot cemetery is in the middle of nowhere. The bus dropped us at the top of a road after we asked the driver to give us a shout for our stop. You then have a short walk to the cemetery. The bus service is few and far between. Now this gives you plenty of time to look around but if you miss the bus you plan to return to Ypres then you have a big wait for the next one. I would get the taxi company number as back up, just to be safe. It is the middle of nowhere.
Enjoy your trip.
Regards,
Supervanman.

Many thanks everybody, got back now, the bus from Ypres Station was one an hour so no problem getting to the Passchendale memorial museum. From there easy walk to Tyne Cot, about 30 mins then onto Passchendale Town for a look round and the bus back to Ypres, great day out.
