Hi,
I%26#39;ll be taking the train from Brussels to Antwerp later this month and really want to visit the Art Nouveau section of Cogels-Osylei. Does the train stop at Amsterdam-Berchem and should I get off there to see the Art Nouveau buildings and then take the tram to Antwerp? Or do I need to get into Antwerp first and then take the tram to Berchem? I want to plan my trip so I can meet up with my friends later in the city.
Thanks so much.

There are trains that stop at Berchem before Centraal and some that don%26#39;t stop so you would have to go into Centraal and come out again. I would advise you to put Bruxelles-central (or wherever you are departing from) and Antwerpen-Berchem into here to find out which train would be most convenient: http://reiseauskunft.bahn.de/bin/query.exe/en
When you select %26quot;show detail%26quot; for a particular departure, you will also get a train number, and clicking on this will show you all the stops.
You can then take the train to Centraal, or tram 11.
Here%26#39;s a map - http://www.urbanrail.net/eu/ant/antwerpen.htm - blue lines are trains, red trams that go underground in the centre, pink other tram lines: you will find Berchem on the blue (railway) line from Mortsel and pink line for tram 11 passing near Antwerpen-Centraal (Koningin Astridplein). Stops in that direction are: COGELS OSYLEI - Tramplein - Draakplaats - Draakstraat - Kleinebeerstraat - Rolwagenstraat - Provinciestraat - Ommeganckstraat - Carnotstraat - KONINGIN ASTRIDPLEIN - I think end destination will be shown as Melkmarkt.

That%26#39;s great information. Thank you so much! One more question: Do you have any idea how far the Art Nouveau buildings are from the train station at Berchem?
|||
Correct me if I%26#39;m wrong but as far as I know all the trains coming from Brussels stop in both Antwerpen-Berchem before going to Centraal.
Just get off in Berchem. The Cogels-Osylei is only a few minutes walk from the Berchem train station. No need to take a bus or a tram.

All trains coming from Brussels to Antwerp stop in Antwerpen-Berchem, but NOT the train to Amsterdam Central station. That one goes directly to Anwterpen Centraal.
So just take any train direction Antwerpen-centraal (or Essen) as final destination.
2 minutes walk from Berchem station.

Hi, From Brussels Central, all Antwerp bound trains do stop in Berchem station, except the international train to Amsterdam. After arriving in Berchem, leave the station at the front side and walk cross the square to the tram stops, from there, you can enter Cogels osylei to the left.
In the street, be aware the frequent fast driving buses, as accidents do happen there.
Cogels Osylei is a must to see for art nouveau and eclectic minded people. When going there, also check Waterloostraat (street parallel to Cogels Osylei. Some good houses there like De Tijd, Les Mourecelles, Napoleon, and the ensemble of Four Seasons. The store at the end of Cogels Osylei on tramplaats neart the railway bridge sells books and postcards about the area.
