Is it still possible to travel by ferry from Ostende to Ramsgate without a vehicle, or are foot passengers required to take the Eurostar now? The ferry website suggests that only passengers with vehicles are allowed. If no foot passengers are allowed from Ostende, does anyone know of other ferry options for travelers without vehicles? My son will be traveling from Bruges to London and would like to take a ferry if possible instead of the Eurostar.

Transeuropa (Ostend-Ramsgate) don%26#39;t carry foot passengers, and neither do Norfolkline (Zeebrugge-Rosyth and Dunkerque-Dover).
I think your son has to head for Calais, where P%26amp;O (to Dover) take foot passengers. However to get there from Brugge involves taking several trains: to Kortrijk, then Lille, then Calais. Dunkerque is reachable by coastal tram from Zeebrugge to De Panne/Adinkerke, then there are cross-border buses to French ports, at least in the summer.
By train the only option through the tunnel is the passenger train Eurostar, from Brussels (or Lille), or Eurolines bus. These leave from Brugge railway station, and usually take the Eurotunnel (vehicle-carrying train) but sometimes takes the ferry from Calais if this happens to be offering them a better deal at the time. See www.eurolines.be or phone +32-2/274 1350 (from within Belgium, 02/274 1350).

Thank you for the information. It does seem that taking the ferry from Europe to Britain is a thing of the past! He will probably just take the Eurostar rather than going to all the trouble it will take to get to Calais.

Another reply states %26quot;...don%26#39;t carry foot passengers, and neither do Norfolkline (Zeebrugge-Rosyth ...).%26quot;
Oh, yes, they do!
Probably didn%26#39;t in March, though, as they were still waiting on their new boat.
When superfast operated this route they got us foot passengers on and off by minibus.
I can%26#39;t speak for the other company or route but suggest you double-check.
