Charleroi to Warwick Barsey Hotel - January 2010

Hi there,

I have been looking to go to Brussels on Friday 22nd January 2010 for the weekend. We will be flying from Glasgow and arrive at Charleroi airport at 2.30pm.

How far is the Warick Barsey Hotel from the airport? How would you get to the airport?

I have read that Avenue Louise is the central area or so, that%26#39;s where the hotel is situated. Is this a good hotel?

Do you need to book any tours etc before you go on them? What is the nightlife like? Is there many bars / restaurants etc you can go for nice meal and sit with a few drinks just relaxing. Perhaps a Jazz bar?

It will be my boyfriends birthday while we are there, so I would be keen to do something really special on the Sunday. Any ideas are welcome!

This may sound very rude of a British person, however - do many people working in the shops / bars / museums etc speak good english? I will take my translation dictionery with me anyway!!

If you click on Brussels Hotels in the list on the left you will find reviews, but Avenue Louise is not the city centre (which would be around De Brouckère/Bourse/Grand%26#39; Place) and the Barsey is some way down the avenue. Louise (that is, around Louise metro station) is, however a good shopping area and there are also a number of cafés and restaurants in the sidestreets e.g. rue Jourdan.

From CRL the easiest way to get to your hotel would be to take the shuttle bus from the airport to Brussels Gare du Midi (€13, about one hour), which stops behind the station in rue de France, and a taxi from there.

Many people in Brussels speak English, especially those who deal with tourists e.g. at museums, although a greeting in French is always appreciate (Bonjour Madame, Bonjour Monsieur).
