My husband and I will be traveling to Brussels in mid October...I have a husband that is walking with cane because of recent surgery. I need a good, reasonable hotel that would be centrally located - located to sites, restaurants, bars etc...can anyone recommend a good hotel for first-time visitors...Does anyone have any thoughts on the Arlequin Hotel...I am told it is right smack in the center. Thank you - also looking for a good tour guide or company!

Hotel Arlequin is indeed in the centre because it is in the middle of the Ilôt Sacré, off the pedestrianized petite rue des Bouchers, but for that very reason I would not really consider it suitable for someone who has problems walking and needs to be near public transport: it isn%26#39;t easily accessible by taxi (they presumably come to the street at the back and you would access the hotel through the gallery) and it%26#39;s a bit of a hike to Gare centrale for the train to/from the airport. I have also always wondered about noise in that hotel since it is in the middle of the restaurant district (where I don%26#39;t recommend eating, btw) and shares premises with a cinema.
I would recommend that you stay closer to Gare centrale, the closest hotel is the Méridien: or if you feel you would be able to cope with trams (several steps up, narrow entrances) - unless taking taxi from Gare du Nord or Gare du Midi - the Marriott opposite the Bourse (stock exchange).
Otherwise, any of the hotels between Gare centrale and Place de l%26#39;Europe would fit the bill e.g. Ibis %26quot;Off Grand%26#39; Place%26quot;, Novotel ditto, Best Western Carrefour de l%26#39;Europe, Madeleine, Le Dix-Septième.

I have stayed, and am about to go back (hoorah!!) and stay at the Royal Windsor, Grand Place Hotel which is about one block from the Gare Central train station and about 2 blocks outside the Grand Place itself with many restaurants in the area. The hotel is pricey but absolutely wonderful, very 4-5 star. Also, right across the street from it is a tiny and charming little breakfast place (art deco outside, don%26#39;t remember the name but its the only one there) with excellent breakfast pastries and coffees etc at MUCH cheaper prices than the pricey breakfast at the hotel.

We stayed at the Royal Windsor and definitely recommend it - great hotel, really good location. And right around the corner from a street with a bunch of greek restaurants, so if you are a fan of gyros and shawarma, it is great :) We used Expedia and got a rate of US$107/night, which we thought was fabulous.

Over the years I have often stayed at the Arlequin Hotel whilst accompanying my husband on his numerous business trips. For a budget conscious stay it offers excellent value - 115euros B%26amp;B. It is indeed centrally placed with a wide choice of restaurants and therefore for my husband far preferable to staying in Beaulieu. If you need a taxi it will drop you off at the rear of the hotel and you access through a rather seedy gallery. Rooms vary in size but 702 is above average and overlooks the Bourse. We have stayed in a number of different rooms and have never experienced any traffic or restaurant noise. Breakfast has improved markedly on recent visits but their administration can still sometimes go awry and it%26#39;s advisable to reconfirm nearer your arrival date.
A word of caution do not be tempted to have a meal in any of the nearby restaurants that display their food outside as they are tourist traps. There are many others in the same area that are not - do a search on the forum.
