Hello, Need advice regarding travel from Den Haag to Bruges in early November. Would we need reservations on a Friday afternoon for the train? From reading other posts, I assume it would be on the IC train with a change in Antwerp. How long would this trip take? I seems a car would not be helpful due to parking issues. Is three days in Bruges too long before travelling back to Amsterdam to fly out of the NL? Any other tips regarding Bruges sights and experiences. Thanks, from a nice couple in Texas!

We recently spent 2 1/2 days in Bruges and thought it was a nice amount of time. There are also several day trips you could do if you don%26#39;t find enough in Bruges to keep you occupied. We had planned to take the train to the coast when we were there, but the weather didn%26#39;t cooperate.
Den Haag to Bruges is an easy trip by train - we went the opposite direction from Bruges to Amsterdam, passing through Den Haag. I think the trip takes a couple hours, and you do change trains at Antwerp.
When we were in Bruges, we toured the Halve Maan Brewery, took a canal tour, took a bike tour with Pink Elephant Tours, climbed the belfry, went to Choco-story (the chocolate museum) and to the Belgian fry museum. We also did a bunch of general wandering around and hanging out in cafes.

NovemberMoon - can you provide any detail on your bike tour with Pink Bear Tours?

The Pink Bear tour lasted about 3 hours and we covered maybe 10-12 miles, all flat. We met at the Markt square and walked to the bike garage where we got the bikes. Our guide was really knowledgable and a good story teller. We rode through the old town and then along the the canal between Bruges and the town to De Haan. In De Haan we stopped for a snack and a drink and saw the old square. On the way back, we took a different route passed some small farms, along another canal and back into Bruges.

The bike tour sounds awesome - checked out their site (thanks for the link)! However, the %26quot;contact us%26quot; address isn%26#39;t valid.
Wondering if anyone knows of a bike tour that has a 3 wheel bike available . Traveling in mid October with my 89 year old mother - she can still do many things unassisted, but 2 wheelers are a bit much.

I stayed in Bruges for 2 1/2 days last October. My family and I rented bikes from somewhere right in town and we went almost all the way to the Netherlands border. You don%26#39;t need a tour-- the paths are easy to follow, the trails are flat, and the landscape is gorgeous!! Little towns, beer halls, flowers, countryside...it is really picturesque and easy. I can%26#39;t say that we learned much history other than the landmarks, etc., but if you%26#39;re looking for a nice morning/afternoon activity, that%26#39;s a definite must.
