Best Pubs in Brussels?

my friend and I are both Aussies but living in London and having a boys weekend in Brussels.

Can anyone recommend some authentic and old pubs/bars that we should see?

You might also want to visit Delirium, which is neither old nor particularly Belgian, but it does have a menu of 2000 beers from all over the world, and it%26#39;s close to the Grand%26#39; Place in an alleyway off the rue des Bouchers (don%26#39;t eat in that area btw - the vast majority of the restaurants are tourist traps), see www.impassedelirium.be.

Hi guys,

Given that you live in London, before you go you should nip down to Borough Market, go to the Utobeer stall and pick up a copy of Around Brussels in 80 Beers. That%26#39;s a fantastic guide to the best pubs in Brussels. Alternatively you can order it from booksaboutbeer.com.

A La Mort Subite - really old Brussels beer hall/pub. Located a couple of blocks from the Grand Plaz, just through the Galeries St. Hubert (you will walk past Rue des Bouchers in the Galeries). Had Kriek - yum, and a sour tasting lambic beer. Has an authentic, %26quot;back in time%26quot; feel to it.

I have posted variations on this theme a few times you could search.

the short answer is what do you like are you looking for typical belgian stuff or club type places or places with food.

I would recommend Poechenellerkelder, Porte Noir, Fleur en papier D%26#39;oree

Cercuil, Chaloupe D%26#39;or, Cirios, Moeder Lambic and Skeiven Arkitekt, Int, Spinnekopke.

And buy the Tim Webb brussels beer guide

If you want more let me know what you aim to do other than the obvious, and have fun.

If you do go to Delirium, see the female Mannekin Pis --outside the bar at the end of the alleyway where the chairs and table just about end. It is slightly ugly but we thought keeping with the theme: we saw the dog peeing so we had to see the girl.

After going to Delirium we were a little let down, just our opinion as the menu listing available didn%26#39;t have the over 2000 but perhaps 100 or so. But is was still ok.
