For the past few years we have been to Bruges for Christmas and New Year and we are looking for a change.Does anyone know if all the restaurants and bars are open on Christmas Day in Ghent as they are in Bruges ?
Would be a shame to travel there and find everywhere closed

we too usually go to Bruges for an overnight stay before christmas. stock up on cheese and pate from the saturday market and beer.. then wine in france on the way home.. Im interested in replies too as we were thinking of trying Ghent this year or wondering whether to stick to what we know.. is there a food market in Ghent on a Saturday like Bruges??

Many restaurants will be open on Christmas Day, many will be closed too. However, you should be able to find a restaurant to your liking, but I would suggest booking a table in advance.
