brussels for 1 night !

We will be staying in Brussels for one night next week on our way to Luxemburg - our plane lands at 6.20pm.What is the easiest (cost effective) way from the airport to the city centre - we are staying at Le Grand Colombier Hotel ( Rue Du Colombier No. 8) ?

Also can anyone recommend any nice traditional bars %26amp; restaurants near to the hotel. Many thanks

Your hotel is between Rogier and De Brouckère metro stations, if you don%26#39;t have too much luggage the easiest way to get there would be to take the airport train (€3) to Gare du Nord and then the underground tram to De Brouckère (+/- €1.70), where you come up from the tram station to an exit into Place De Brouckère.

However the most cost-effective way (just) would be to take the airport bus (€3 if you buy ticket from machine at the airport bus stop, €4 if you have to buy it from the driver) to Schuman and change there onto the metro to De Brouckère, in which case the cost of transfer to metro is included (but you have to put your ticket in the orange machine at the entrance, to mark the transfer). If you do this, when you come up the escalator from the metro platform at De Brouckère, look for the signs to the trams and take the walkway to the tram part of the station, because if you exit directly from the metro part you will have further to walk.
