Any map info (where to get them or if someone has one) on riding from Brussels to Ypres would be greatly appreciated.

Hi cowsonthefarm.

Welcome to TA.

Belgium as very good maps in differant scales that cover the full country. Good for walking and cycling.

Belgium is very bike friendy and pretty flat.

If you do go to ypres you must go to the last post at the Menin gate.

Just been to dig some of my Belgium maps out.

Michelin 533regional (isbn2-06-710096-3) in my eyes is good enough for what you want.

But if you want more detail then go for Topografische Kaart Van Belgie. (Topographic map of Belgium) 70 maps cover Belgium.

And if you want more detail each of the 70 maps is subdivided into 8 but no need to go that far.

If you do go for the Topographic 70 maps I think you will need 5 maps.

You can buy it on the internet. just type in %26quot;ISBN 2-06-710096-3 for details.

I often use this routeplanner: www.fietsnet.be/routeplanner/default.aspx

Enter starting point an destination. These routes follow quiet roads and paths with lots of interesting things to see.You ride from one numbered point to another, you will find these numbers along your road. Once you have calculated your trip you can print the numbers with the distance which will give you a long strip you can stick on the crossbar. Unfortunately the system does not cover Brussels and surroundings but try from point 4 near Zellik (Brabantse Kouters).

And while you%26#39;re in Ypres, take advantage of cycling the beautiful trails along canals to visit the remains of the war :
