Brussels/Bruges/Eurostar

Very broad enquiry, but friend and I (female 50%26#39;s) want to spend 4/5 days visiting the two cities and travel on Eurostar from London. Any thoughts on which would be a better base, or 2-centre and in which order? We plan end Nove./early Dec. Eating out, museums, galleries, people watching, etc. budget flexible but around £400. I%26#39;m happy to do hotel research myself but can%26#39;t work out, in which city to spend most time.

Bearing in mind the 24 hr %26quot;stopover%26quot; limit that applies to your stay in Brussels, when using your Eurostar ticket for free transport between Brussels and Brugge (and vice versa), you could can%26#39;t spend more than 1 day at a time in Brussels anyway, so you may need to split this in 2 for practical reasons: day 1, arrive in Brussels, day 2 continue to Brugge (1hr), spend days 1 and 3 in Brugge, day 4 travel back to Brussels and continue on day 5 to London.

As for which city to spend most of your time in and what to do there, see %26quot;Things to do%26quot; in the city concerned in the relevant forum (list on the left of this page). Nobody but you can work out which of the various things available you might want to do, which would determine how much time you spend in each place. For example, in Brussels you could spend no more than an hour or so if all you want is a quick look at the Grand%26#39; Place, or you could spend days taking HoHo bus, at the Winter Market, looking at Old Masters/surrealist artworks/art nouveau architecture, enjoying the Europalia China exhibitions, etc. - it all depends on your tastes!

Many thanks for your help qaminari, I hadn%26#39;t realised about the 24hr limit, so that has sharpened the thinking! Am intrigued by the Ho-Ho bus as well.

Why not goto Gent for one night as well?

Do one night in Brussel, One in Gent, and two in Bruges.....

HoHo = hop-on, hop-off, if that is the reason why you were intrigued! A generic description, not an official name or anything.
