Transport from Zeebrugge to Brugge

This summer I will be arriving in Zeebrugge on board a cruise liner. In an effort to avoid the cruise-sponsored tours, I would like to travel on my own into Bruges for the day. What is the easiest way to get to/from Bruges? If by train or bus, how close are the docks to the station(s)?

I would be grateful for any advice anyone cares to share. Thanks!

There are certainly buses to Brugge from the ferry terminal which I think must be next to where the cruise ships dock, although I don%26#39;t know whether the local bus 791 (Zeebrugge to Brugge) goes out that far. Brugge station is about 8 miles away from the port, and unless things have changed since I was last there, there is a railway station right by the ferry port - many years ago I came off a boat and got straight on a train that stopped at Brugge and Gent on the way to Brussels. There is a map on here: www.aferry.to/Zeebrugge-ferry-belgium.htm

We think the railway-station %26#39;Zeebrugge-Strand%26#39; is +/- 1km from the docks.

The ticket one-way to Bruges costs 2,40 € . There is train every hour, in the morning and evening every half hour.

You can tcheck on site www.nmbs.be (available in english)

A similar question - is it easy to get a taxi from Zebbrugge to Bruges as we are travelling there by liner in April - with elderly parents.

Any info on taxis and or on public transport would be welcomed. Thanks

How did this work for you? We will also be on a cruise in August and was wondering how you got to Bruges.

Firstly, the cruise ship docked nowhere near the ferry terminal. It was in the dock near the start of the canal by Zweedse Kaai. There appeared to be a tram runing along Kustlaan (a road also called N34a) at the end of the dock.

The shuttle bus ran to Blankenberg where you could get a train to Brugge (or beyond). Taxis are available and cost €45 to the centre of Brugge, 4 of us shared one and it took about 25 minutes, very convenient as I had my mother with us and it took us right to the main market square. If you go by train the station is about 10 minutes walk from centre of Brugge.

Thats helpful. We are arriving in Zeebrugge on the Q. Victoria on 7th December- is there any way you can pre book a taxi to go to Bruges and for the return?
