8 hour lay over in Brussels

I have an 8 hour lay over this Friday morning from 7:30am-3:55pm and wanted to go see the city for a couple hours and get some chocolate. My question is, am I able to leave the airport and return the same day or do you have to stay one night? Alos, what is the easiest/quickest way to get to The Grand Place? Thanks so much.

Of course you don%26#39;t have to stay the night! Why would anyone impose this obligation (and how?)?

The airport train takes about 20 minutes to the centre, cost €3, and stops at Bruxelles-Nord, Central and Midi. Central is about 5 minutes%26#39; walk from the Grand%26#39; Place. Plenty of chocolate shops around there and in the nearby Galeries St. Hubert.

Of course you will need to check the train timetable (they leave every 15=20 minutes) to ensure that you are back at the airport AT LEAST one hour before your flight: there can be long lines at security control and it is also a long walk to the gates.
