Hilton Brussels City to the Grand Place

Hi,

I have some hilton points to redeem and was thinking of using them for the Hilton Brussels City which is in Place Rogier 20. On google maps I see it is 1.4 kms walking to the Grand Place / Gare Centrale. But I would like to know how nice, not nice the walking distance is. Namely I plan on staying at the time of the New Year, and this will be winter and dark early, so if walking is not pleasant, I would rather stay elsewhere.

I am asking because when I stayed in Ibis St Catherine before I was not impressed with the area. But this was Spring and the days were longer, so it was possible to return early in the day. I swore I would visit again (loved brussels) but stay closer to the grand place. However, this reward redemption is very appealing. So any comments are welcome!! Thanks,

Hilton Brussels City is at Place Rogier, the most convenient way to the Grand%26#39; Place (apart from taking the underground tram 2 stops to Bourse) would be to walk down the pedestrianized shopping street, rue Neuve, to Pl. de la Monnaie (where the opera house is) and then continue along rue des Fripiers till you reach the back of the Bourse. This route is neither better nor worse than the area around the Grand%26#39; Place itself so I can%26#39;t think of any reason not to stay there; but while it is further away from the Grand%26#39; Place, the Brussels Hilton is in a nicer area near Louise metro station.

qaminari, again a wealth of knowledge. I seem to recall that pedestrian street from the last time I was in Brussels (there is a FNAC somewhere, isn%26#39;t there?). It shouldn%26#39;t be too bad then.

Thanks.

I%26#39;ve just booked a secret hotel in Brussels and have been given the Hilton Brussels.

Can anyone please advise on the best way to get there from the airport - I%26#39;ll be flying in next Friday at 1pm.
